About Iaido

Iaido is a Japanese martial art focused on using the sword, specialising in drawing and cutting in a single stroke. It is generally practiced in pre-arranged forms, called kata, against imaginary opponents, though paired form and test cutting of targets may also be performed.

Originally created by Samurai for self defence or even assassination, it has developed over the last four hundred years into a Do, a Way to self improvement, or a type of moving meditation, while still teaching how to use a sword effectively.
